It is yet another sellout for Asia’s largest and most comprehensive trade fair for the woodworking machinery, furniture materials and interior fittings industry – CIFM / interzum guangzhou. Booth spaces were reportedly snapped up as early as four months before the show opens on March 27. Welcoming its tenth year in the trade, the event will be held in its namesake city alongside the renowned China International Furniture Fair.

Over 1,000 manufacturers from 28 countries and regions including eight national/regional pavilions and up to as many as 56,000 visitors from over 140 countries and regions will be thronging the 130,000-square meter exhibition area across Area B and Area C of the Pazhou complex at this over-subscribed event.

Helmed by the Malaysian Timber Council, the Malaysian pavilion will be making its debut and they will be joined by other group exhibitors from Germany, Chile and Turkey, all of which have staked out larger booth spaces than the previous year.

Some of the Woodworking Machinery & Tools giants to be showcased include Homag, Freud, IMA, Microviellum Software/Dimeng Technologies, SCM, Legget & Platt, Wemhoener, Adler and Pfaff.

Manufacturers such as Bekaert, Bodet & Horst, Boyteks Tekstil, Okin Refined, Vefer and Zahonero Hi-tech Latex will be featured under the Materials for Upholstery & Bedding zone, while the Hardware & Components area will see big names with the likes of Cebi, FGV, King Slide, Repon, Schwinn, Cyber Lock, Suspa, Titus and Topslide.

Leaders of the Materials & Equipment for Interior Design industry to be expected are ALPI, Rehau, RENOLIT, Schattdecor and Konrad Hornschuch, and the Wood Products & Adhesives zone is said to be hosting pavilions led by the Prochile and the American Hardwood Exporters Council respectively, as well as key players including Franklin Adhesives, H.B. Fuller, Henkel and URUFOR.

The International Halls (Hall 14.1 and 15.1) this year are expected to pull some serious punches with a string of new offerings and activities on the sidelines.

Armed with the PIAZZA (International Hall VIP lounge) voucher, which can be obtained upon registering at Hall 16.1, visitors will be able to redeem a souvenir from Hall 14.1 after collecting two stamps on the voucher at Hall 14.1 and Hall 15.1 respectively.

The voucher also entitles visitors access to the mini wine bar whose red wine sponsored by Five Star Winery located in the PIAZZA to enjoy complimentary refreshments where it also boasts a meeting area, equipped with free Internet service.

For those who are keen to catch up on the latest industry movements, the Resource Area between Hall 14.1 and Hall 15.1 will be featuring a wide range of renowned trade publications on design and trends for all to browse.

The greatest highlight of the show will, undoubtedly, be the technical seminars which promise to be a stimulating, and thought-provoking learning experience bringing together senior Chinese and international executives from multiple disciplines and sectors of the industry.

The topics will revolve around two main themes – “Original Technology and Innovative Products” and “Furniture Material Trends” – and will be held at the PIAZZA at Hall 14.1 on March 28 and 29 respectively. Speakers include Andrea Barban, Asia Area Manager of Alpi S.P.A. from Italy; Dale Robertson, Director of Integrated Furniture Technologies; Matthias Haasler, Business Director and Dr Uwe Kraemer, Technical Director, both from the Furniture Components division of Germany’s Rehau AG + Co,; Ursula Geismann, General Manager of the Confederation of the German Woodworking and Furniture Industries and Nicolas Serrano, Director of the Prochile.
