#interzum guangzhou

Asia’s largest one-stop woodworking machinery and furniture production fair welcomes the trade

• 20% bigger than 2011 to reach 130,000 sqm including 30% growth in International Exhibits Zone;

• Featuring 1,057 exhibitors with 243 from abroad;

• Surge in pre-registered visitors by 27%

Curtain’s up here at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Pazhou) for the 9th season of CIFM / interzum guangzhou – the largest and most comprehensive trading platform for the woodworking machinery, furniture production and interior design industry in Asia.

A record 1,057 international and domestic exhibitors hailing from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, the US and Vietnam have set up their wares. The exhibition area is reportedly expanded by 20 per cent reaching an unprecedented 130,000 square meters contributed in part by a larger international exhibits zone which gained an extra 30 per cent to house 243 foreign manufacturers.

While in the international display area, keep a look out for four new national pavilions this year from the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), Turkey, Chile and Spain in addition to the regulars from Germany, Italy and the US.

Although there is more ground to be covered, the exhibition offers easy navigation with an improved format – the Materials and Components for Furniture/Hardware product category can now be found in Area C of the venue, the Machinery zone remains on level one of Area B and the Visitor Registration booth for Area C is located inside Hall 16.1.

Exhibit International Exhibits Zone is redefined as:

• Hall 11.1 for woodworking machinery, tools and other machinery

• Hall 14.1 for hardware, components and fitting

• Hall 15.1 for

    a) Materials and equipment for upholstery and bedding

    b) Wood products and adhesives

    c) Materials and equipment for interior design

On the robust growth of the show and the new product layout, Michael Dreyer, vice president Asia Pacific of Koelnmesse said: “This enhancement was timed with the upcoming growth period and provides a good opportunity for the industry to ready itself. This year we’ve expanded to Area C of the venue and have widely publicized that in advance to participants. The growth of 30 per cent of the international exhibits zone and the increase in visitor pre-registration figures by 27 per cent has sent a very strong signal to us that the industry has affirmed our strategy.”

Besides the exhibition, another not to be missed highlight happening today is the Green Home Design Forum which sees industry veterans from associations, senior management of manufacturers, technical gurus, and top interior and industrial designers get together to explore issues evolving the development of low carbon emission and environmental friendly furniture industry as well as ‘green’ design concepts and culture.

One of the key speakers featured at the forum is Michael Snow, executive director of AHEC, who has been in office since 1999 and had overseen projects in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Greater China region. He will be shedding light on the latest industry analysis.

The exhibition runs from today through Friday in conjunction with the China International Furniture Fair (CIFF).
